ITINERARY – EPHESUS & TERRACE HOUSES

You will meet with your private guide at the port than drive to  Ancient Ephesus, where you will feel yourself in the history of 3^rd Century B.C through the upper gate and start a slow, downhill walk to the remains of the Roman provincial capital of Asia Minor. Your guide will highlight such sights as the well preserved Gymnasium ,Temple of Hadrian, the magnificent Trajan Fountain, the Odeon Theater, once used for both political and social entertainment purposes, and the Fascinating Celsus Library with its imposing facade and two story Corinthian-style columns. The Great Theater is one of the few ancient structures still used today. It seats twenty-four thousand and, although it was once an arena for gladiator fights, it is now home to concerts and annual spring festivals.

You must be able to walk approximately 1 mile over uneven and cobblestone surfaces, inclines and 10 – 50 steps. Comfortable shoes, a hat and plenty of sunscreen are recommended as shade is limited the order of the tour itinerary may vary in order to avoid congestion.
