Tour Itinerary – Athens and Archeology Museum

Ride past the yacht harbor of Zea, and along Mikrolimanon’s waterfront, lined with inviting al fresco restaurants. Relax as you head towards the heart of Athens. Pass by numerous points of interest such as the Arch of Adrianos, Constitution Square (Syntagma Square), the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the House of Parliament, the National Academy, the Library, the University and the Presidential Megaron. Stop at the National Museum of Archaeology, built between 1866 and 1889, and considered one of the most important museums in the world. Tour the nine galleries displaying art from the most brilliant periods of Athenian history. Visit the Acropolis, the sacred rock of ancient Athens that still towers over the modern city. Enjoy a breathtaking view of antiquity as you look upwards towards the marvelous structure of the Parthenon. Climb up the pathway and steps leading through the massive Propylaia onto the rock of the Acropolis itself. Relive the ‘glory that was Greece’ as you view the Parthenon, the delicate temple of the Wingless Victory and the Erechteion.

SPECIAL NOTES – Athens and Archeology Museum

The visit to the Acropolis includes walking uphill on rough, and sometimes slippery, terrain. Comfortable shoes, a hat, water and sunscreen are recommended. No food, drinks, large bags/backpacks are allowed into the Acropolis or Museums. Only water in a clear bottle is permissible. Please note the Acropolis Museum is in the process of relocation and a full visit may not be possible. The Acropolis is currently under repair for preservation purposes.
